Really, really great news. And on Saturday Coalition announced that they signed Greg Gent. So now it’s official - Tom and Greg are working together on some new project. Tom spoke about making music with Greg on BBC Radio Leicester last year, and they performed those beautiful acoustic covers for the N.H.S. in April. It’s great to see how Greg supports Tom.  https://www.instagram.com/p/CFl-Lj7njDK My dream for Tom’s solo album is to hear a high quality complex sound production showing a beauty of his voice, some heavy Club Foot-like bass lines and may be something inspired by Afro-American music. Tom was raised on Motown and soul, hip-hop, it's all in his music identity. Also he recorded an incredible song with Idris Elba a few years ago. Heavy dark guitars fit his voice. It will be definitely a step up for him professionally, a great experience, learning something new from collaborations with other artists, producers. On a more pragmatic note, after sacking from the band Tom needs a stable income to support his family, pay for his mental health treatment etc. Not much money left after a two-year break from touring, I guess. Obviously it will take a lot of patience and courage for him to build his own project, kind of an underdog path, but it will be worth it. With the right team behind him Tom can be successful. |

I was wondering if people would prefer if there was a separate subforum for Tom's music? It's not really a side project anymore like SLP was for Serge, and he might release more than one album as a solo artist. Split them up? Wait and see? Is it easy enough to find/differentiate between the other threads? I can also set up a little label so it's obvious at first glance, like the SLP gig threads. Let me know what you think. |

Good question actually. Maybe we can wait until we hear some of his music, if it is too different from Kasabian, then subforum is called for. Otherwise you might still think of Tom solo as a side-project, even that we know it is not.

I truly despise how they’re doing this. Such poor taste. The clip of Tom’s music sounded like depressing drivel and I’m interested to find out who has written the song for him. I’m sure he’ll have some songwriting credit but I can’t imagine it was mainly Tom.
