Coalition replied to some people on Instagram, sounds like it'll be a free download, so maybe it won't even be on Spotify?
I just remembered the song he did for the No Fare soundtrack, completely vanished from my mind, I wonder if he'll release that.

Wow...
"Would you reach out, or will you let me fall? It doesn't matter, 'cos I'll never risk that call."
Is this suggesting ties have been severed with the rest of the band?
A really moving ballad, something I knew Tom's voice would suit well.

Surprised it’s not on Spotify in todays era, guessing it will be when they release the album.
As for the song, it’s not really for me. Haven’t particularly loved either of the tracks released this week.

A really moving ballad, something I knew Tom's voice would suit well. I think it's about how he didn't reach out at the time and never found out how they would have reacted. I find it hard to believe they didn't know he was struggling, but maybe he withdrew after the last tour and when it got really bad he couldn't ask for help. It all makes me so sad. He has a website now.

Oh and also "I didn’t plan on releasing this song until next year but due to such an amazing response on social media, I have decided to make it available and free for anyone who wants to listen."
So it wasn't planned, or was it, would he have known they were releasing a single? Maybe he did, maybe they told him, maybe there's some kind of industry database where one can see those things. He started teasing the song on the day the tour started, which is a bit much of a coincidence. If he wasn't planning to release it now, the amazing response he's referring to was when? Last year when he was active on social media for a while? I think Kasabian definitely pushed theirs to Wednesday because they found out he would release his.
Unpopular opinion but I feel like as long as Kasabian are still selling t-shirts with his face he can ride on their publicity as much as he wants.

But, as you say, I'm certain they knew he was a man in need of support. Whether they gave him that, or viewed him more as a frustration/inconvenience/distraction to the band's growth... I guess we'll never know. I do feel like one day soon Serge and co. will need to do an interview and settle a few things once and for all. If only for the fans that have devoutly followed them as a group of lifelong friends.

I dunno, releasing the single on the same day as the hometown gig so they play it there for the first time seems reasonable and planned from Kasabian's side, but who knows

It makes you think you're a burden and an inconvenience and everyone would be better off without you. And I'm sure they didn't just ditch him before. I've always been convinced Put Your Life On It was written for Tom at a point where he was struggling. All that love right there, and yet.

It's a nice and touching ballad and I missed his voice. But I don't think I can listen to this song a lot, it's a bit tiring and boring.
Suppose it's that unseasy for me because I know exactly what it's about.

Well it’s basically just an extension on the clip we heard. It’s very dreary and I didn’t enjoy it, but what’s worse is what it’s attempting to achieve and blatant bullshit surrounding it. Seriously do they really believe anyone believes that they released it now for any other reason other than because of the Kasabian publicity? And do they really think people are stupid enough to believe it’s a free download because “Tom wanted to give it back to the fans”? Seriously, come on.
The pity party and “mental health matters” that has been plastered all over this is sickening. As someone who also suffers from mental health issues I find it offensive and disgusting.
Everything about this is atrocious. It might have been more bearable if they’d given it a bit more time but to deliberately release it along side Kasabian’s music and tour is just awful. I have no idea how Tom doing what he did (and I imagine a huge amount of other stuff we all don’t know about) has been turned around as the band (and in particular the hate Serge is receiving) being at fault here.
Why could Tom have not showed his support for the rest of the band who DO NOT deserve to lose their careers because of Tom’s mistakes. How anyone could possibly believe the rest of the band could have continued to work with him on a professional basis after this I do not know. They all have mothers, sisters, daughters and sons even (what example does it set to them to see their Dads work with someone who has done that to a woman?)
I would have been more than happy for Tom to have a successful solo career if it hadn’t been played out like this but now I hope it all divebombs and he disappears as soon as possible. No interest in any of it and as a fan of Kasabian and Tom since 2004 that hurts to say that. On the other hand I will continue to support Kasabian and I hope they come through this like they deserve to.

You’ve said so much of what I’ve been thinking lately but I couldn’t articulate it. I honestly wish Tom well in his recovery, his relationship and his career, I really do. I just really don’t like the way him and his management/PR team have been doing things. it all feels very manipulative, putting the focus on Tom being a victim, when it’s clearly just to stop people thinking about the details of his court case and conviction.

Say what you will about Tom as a person or how his career is being managed, but this song is fucking beautiful

Glad I’m not the only one! When you read the social media comments you’d think we’re the only ones….but then I have to remember that these people are the vocal minority and I hope the band know that too. It is so manipulative, it’s awful. I like to think that somewhere behind it all that Tom is just being led in this direction and he actually wishes the rest of the band well.
