All I hear is Tom saying I love you.
That was when they played the first couple of gigs in 2017 and everyone was scrutinising him like "he must be so upset after the break up" but I thought he seemed happy. He did seem happier to me. I think he wasn't well at all in 2016 and it maybe wasn't addressed properly. Serge said he quickly wrote the album to distract Tom and make him feel better. And maybe that worked for a bit, but then it obviously didn't. The whole tour was messy, things were cancelled, things that were strongly hinted at (for example more Australian or US gigs) never happened. In 2018 the tour was randomly over after just 20 gigs. I feel like all of us were dissatisfied at that point, the whole "do people still care" thread came out of that mood.
I feel kind of bad about about a few things because expectations can be high, and sometimes we get a bit "how dare you not play this song" and stuff like that. On the other hand, I'll be the first to support them if they say one of them is unwell and they need to take a break. Did they feel like that wasn't possible? Was that considered at all? Or did Tom think making music would fix everything? I mean, relatable, but also yikes.
