Interesting that they also thought the solo career happened very quickly. Does anyone remember the first time Tom teased music? He deleted his original Instagram account so it's all gone. I don't know how I feel about Serge implying that everything has been completely awful for years and years. He's been saying he misses "the old Tom" because what else is he going to say? But now he's dating old Tom back to farm days? Whatever was going on behind the scenes, it's not like they were all faking it for 15 years. I get that he doesn't want to go on record saying he misses him and maybe he doesn't want to say he doesn't miss him. But I'd prefer if they didn't talk about it at all rather than these revisionist takes like nothing was ever nice. And they're wrong about Karloff, he left in 2005, before Empire was recorded, not in 2007. |

I think Serge was trying to say that his relationship with Tom went bad from year to year but I understand the way you think about it. And yes I'd prefer if they didn't talk about it cos this interview adds more fuel to the Kasabian vs Tom which is unnecessary. About Tom announcing his solo career, I can't remember exactly when it was but Would You Mind was released around October 2021 so I think it was September-ish while the band made a statement that they thanked people for staying with them during difficult time in July. From that timeline, I believe the band hadn't decided if they were going to get Tom's replacement or any other possibilities. Nevertheless, Kasabian are alive and I'm the happiest guy to know it. I went digging. According to the Tom thread, there were "concrete news" (since deleted) in September 2020, only two months after. We didn't hear from Kasabian until they announced their UK tour out of the blue in May 2021. In June 2021 there was footage of Tom in the studio. In October both released their first single. |

The NME photoshoot is really nice.
I don't think they owe us any juicy details but I was also quite curious whether he's listened to Tom's music so I'm glad someone asked lol. Also interesting to have it basically confirmed that Tom didn't tell them until it was almost too late, because that was definitely the impression I got from the way things were handled.

I really appreciate how he handles the Tom questions. He doesn't go into detail, good or bad. He clearly doesn't want to talk about how amazing Tom used to be, but he also isn't airing any dirty laundry. Focus on the future. Maybe as time passes we'll be able to infer some things, but I'd like it to stay this way. It's way too early for nostalgia.
