BBC Radio 1 just played Ill Ray. Did anyone record it? I was only able to record the last 15 seconds ;-)

Here it is in its full length. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p051p2mwBrilliant. The only thing, I've noticed the album version is slower than live. Also there's a quite strong reverb effect which I don't really like to be honest. . What's your band called, mate?! Yes, this is gonna be my signature here

Need to hear it thru speakers or headphones instead of my phone cause the vocals just aren't doing it for me right now

MUCH better on speakers. Still not the biggest fan of the vocal mix. Seems like Tom is buried in a song we know is primarily sung by him. All that said, I'm loving the energy of this album! Very "Empire" in the frenetic, danceable punkness of what we've heard so far. Combine that with the growing power of Velociraptor! and it seems to be the 2 biggest influences to FCOL in my mind

Not a fan of the vocal effects either, however I love the song! Best from FCOL so far.

Found a way to get my hands on it anyway! Given it a couple of listens. Definitely not my favorite, but that just gives the album room to grow. I know I'm gonna catch hell for this but I find West Ryder to be a very lopsided album (in fact, after a recent listen thru all 5 albums, I have now decided West Ryder is their 3rd best and the self-titled is the new silver medal album) that starts off strong and then kinda hits auto pilot until the middle where it takes off again. There's no bad songs on it, but Underdog is one hell of an opener, and the rest of the first half kinda struggles to keep up with it IMO. I'm kinda glad I don't find Ill Ray to be quite as enchanting as I thought it was gonna be. I now know there are at least 2 treasures on this album I will like more. And I would bet dollars to donuts there will be more than 2 I find mind blowing on the album proper.
Current ranking of the songs:
Are You Looking For Action? Comeback Kid Ill Ray (The King) You're In Love With A Psycho Bless This Acid House Put Your Life On It
Note that the bottom 2 are probably only there because I have yet to hear their official audio

The vocal mix in the verses are horrific. I thought the same thing. Give it enough listens and you start to get used to it/hear the real Tom in the mix

God damn the studio version is disappointing. It's like it has no bass. It sounds horrible in almost every speaker in my house. It's a shame because I love the song.

I rather like the way the music itself was mixed. I think the bass in the majority of 48:13 was way too heavy. This is dead on. You can actually hear the individual instruments in the mix with all the songs on this album so far
