Now that there's been a good while for the dust to settle since this set was released, and with another album hopefully just around the corner for next year, what was everyone's opinions on this Super Deluxe set that was released and would we like to see something similar for the next album? Let's start at the beginning, this was originally released as a Kasabian official web site exlcusive and commanded the price tag of £180 and right from the beginning offered a lot of debate about whether this was a great investment and good value for money or the other side of the argument was that is was a step too far, a bit of a rip off etc. etc. As several months passed by we seen this set decrease from the original price tag of £180 firstly to around £100 on a popmarket daily special deal, then the killer blow was when it appeared on Amazon's black Friday deals last year for a staggering £40, this was then swiftly followed up with a bizzare price tag of £50 from non other than ticketmaster in the end. What price did everyone buy this at? were you one of the one's that spashed out right at the beginning or did you play the waiting game? Did you even know it was available elsewhere for cheaper? Do you think if maybe they priced it around £85 or so from the beginning that it would have been deemed a fairer price and they would have flown off the shelves? Do you think another good option would have been to sell the items of this box seperately alongside a completed box for those who didn't want to buy certain elements? For instance would you have been happier to buy the signed vinyl seperately or maybe even just the metal feathers or that exlcusive DVD? Did anyone leave it too late and now regret not buying one no matter what the price? I would love to see something like this for the next album, but better thought out and priced in a way that doesn't have to make you think too much about it. What do you all think about if a box set is released next time, how would you like to see it released? Over to you.......

It took me about 2 seconds to make a decision to buy it when it was announced. I do think it was expensive and had it been cheaper, it would have been more popular but I couldn't resist having something that special (especially after West Ryder era when we were lucky to get the singles on CDs, nevermind vinyl). I liked the design and the contents - the feathers (I wear them all), the signed vinyl and its artwork (although it still annoys me that Turkish Bath is still the last song on side B and it wasn't fixed), the sealed envelopes for the CD and DVD.
My disappointments were the book which was promising unseen photographs and I'd seen them all, and the documentary because we knew most of it from various backstage videos. Then after a couple of months I accidentaly discovered that there is a Velociraptor iTunes LP for £9.99 which includes the documentary and an actual unseen photograph in their digital booklet - I don't think that release was announced anywhere.
I bought another one from Amazon for £40 at some point as a present for somebody which I thought is quite cheap. Now it's £89.99 on the offical site but their PR team are still unaware of it (as always) and the first thing you see if you go on to their offical fb page that the box is for sale now for £180.
I would love something like this again for the next album, I just hope it'll be more affordable for the fans and I'd love to see more music contents, like old demos, remixes and things like that.

I bought it immediately for the original price as well. I don't regret buying it, because well, nobody forced me, and I couldn't really estimate how quickly it would sell out or if there would ever be an opportunity to get it cheaper, but I do think it was too expensive for not enough truly exclusive content. The feathers were good, but anyone who has worn theirs more than twice will be able to confirm that the black starts chipping off pretty quickly, which is disappointing. The signed vinyl with the alternative artwork is a nice touch, but doesn't make up for the fact that everything else has been released before. The "unseen photographs" were all in the tour programme sold on the arena tour, so they might have been new for some people but definitely not for everyone, especially the target demographic for this thing, which would be the crazy collectors who buy everything. Also, the booklet was described as a "scrapbook" if I'm not mistaken, which had me expecting something a bit different. I do like the documentary, but as cuttoff said, the majority of it had already been released on the official YouTube channel, and the fact that they released it digitally for £9.99 was almost offensive. Content-wise I liked the I Hear Voices documentary from the DVD much better. This one had a very erratic feel to it, inexplicably starting with the recording of Empire and then squeezing six years of band history into 20 minutes. What they could have done to make this feel like less of a rip off is cut down on the packaging, it could have been a slightly smaller box, maybe like the deluxe edition of the album, ditch the vinyl - we already had the signed singles before so this one wasn't even that special and exclusive anymore - keep the feathers, add another disc or two of rarities like demos, live tracks, unreleased footage... sell it for £50 or something. If they ever do something similar again that's the kind of thing I'd like to see. I also seem to remember that some fans asked the band about it and they were quite shocked to hear how expensive it was.

I bought it for a bargain price of something like 50 GBP. For this price it's quite cool. Since I'm male and NOT wearing feathers the main reason to buy it was the airplane gig from Leicester which is not mastered like a live CD should be mastered for me. Absolutely no live feeling. But still nice to have it at home.

Since I'm male and NOT wearing feathers I didn't think they were particularly gendered, Kasabian are still wearing their own. But that's a personal choice of course. I forgot about the plane gig - also released before for the most part. It's missing Shoot the Runner though, which kind of annoys me. Why not have the full gig?

If I would have realeased a Nr.1 Album related to these feathers I would probably have a better relationship to them and wear them 24/7 :-)

I bought it on amazon for 43 euros, that isn't much! and i'm very happy of all the contents, I think I'm in love with the feathers! But it's a pity that i don't have a turntable, so i can't play the vinyl! Luckily I found it at that price, because I wouldn't have bought it for 180 pounds.

Wow, that's surely the cheapest price anyone has seen on this, that's around £36 UK Currency, well done you had a great bargain there.

Do I regret not buying it ...no.Im not an avid collector and don't posess everything they have released so for me I thought £180 was far too steep then when I saw it for £50 it was just the principle of the thing and I had lost interest. How could they justify knocking it out at that price then slashing by that much?i just felt sorry for the fans who might of thought long and hard about the huge amount then to see it go for £50,it was a bit of a kick in the nether regions . Next time lets hope the management have seen what other bands do for their exclusives and make it more afforadable for everyone but I doubt it.I was very happy with Biffy clyro Opposites box and it was around £40ish,it didn't have nothing signed but included the film cell and a leaf from the artwork of the tree, and a few other bits and came in a nice lidded box. Then as I said before Foos wasting light deluxe,£75 with the numbered signed lithograph, the best £75 I have spent.

I have that very Foo Fighters Wasting light set that you mention, that's a good piece of work that. Did you realise they exchange hands for around £1,000 for mint copies, you just can't get people to part with them, they go nuts for them on the Foo Fighters boards (they sold out in around half a day when they came out)
But mind you, I think now that things have settled down a bit and all of the Kasabian Deluxe boxes have sold out, i'm definitely seeing an increase in the value of these, it's taken a while but the value is steadily creeping back up again, you're looking around £100 - £150 for mint copies (That's if you can find any for sale), which must make the people who paid top end for these sets a bit happier.

There seem to be a few on 'a well known auction site' from £100 - including one in it's original outer box whatever that may mean!

There seem to be a few on 'a well known auction site' from £100 - including one in it's original outer box whatever that may mean! To be honest some time ago I would have turned my nose up at that price as my personal opinion was that even £100 was still a bit too much for that box, I still don't think it's worth £100 however looking at recent trends and how difficult it is now becoming to get your hands on one of these sets, I think buying now at around £100 for the box might not seem such a bad deal for those who don't have one, I can only see the price steadily growing from now on. Could be a sensible investment.
