Maybe because they're not really touring in France anymore. They used to go there all the time, but apart from a handful of festivals it's been over 5 years since they played a gig somewhere other than Paris.

Nobody knows Kasabian in France. I went to the biggest CD/DVD/books shop of my city today and they had only 1 FCOL deluxe CD and 1 Velociraptor! CD on the shelves.

Hardly worth mentioning but it got to #70 in Spain. I can't find any Japanese charts.

YILWAP and Shoot the Runner were certified silver this month. Does anyone know if they count streaming now or if something else has changed? Because STR has obviously been out for over a decade, and even Underdog took more than 5 years to get to silver, and they're much better songs. Most of the FCOL songs were just unceremoniously popped on Spotify and left to their own devices. I still don't know which ones were official singles and which ones weren't.

Most of the FCOL songs were just unceremoniously popped on Spotify and left to their own devices. I still don't know which ones were official singles and which ones weren't. As far as i understood there was an argument several years ago about counting streamings and digital downloads between chart authorities and major labels. The result was that labels may decide whether they count download in each particular case (but not streamings). It makes sense commercially, because otherwise some popular artists like Josh Groban or Ed Sheeran could never be advertised as "currently number one in USA", or something like that. Also explains why charts don't really mean anything. So streamings still don't count, but downloads do. And i am not sure if making a track available offline for example in Spotify also counts as a download. Still a gray area here. But the rise of Shoot the Runner is explainable though. You are in love... is very radio friendly and therefore popular. I don't know a radio station who didn't play it last year. And when people discover a new song and a new band they go youtube and Shoot The Runner is one of the first results for Kasabian.

Velociraptor was certified 2x platinum in May 2022
Edit: Is officialcharts.com completely broken? I tried to check whether any of the new songs charted at all and I just keep getting errors. Kasabian doesn't exist. Charts from June don't exist.

Kasabian doesn't exist. Charts from June don't exist. FWIW, none of the singles charted in the top 100. YILWAP only got to 62 for comparison. Not surprising given the music industry though. Interestingly, Liam Gallagher got to 18 with Everything’s Electric, but it’s hard for guitar acts to chart high currently.

UK: 1 Scotland: 1 Ireland: 80 Germany: 63
They're also #45 and #73 in two different Japanse charts.
Almost the same as Empire in Germany. Velociraptor was their highest charting album here at #22. Not sure if any other European charts are out yet, I can't find anything. Considering none of the cool stuff was available outside the UK I'm not expecting much.

I just checked who kept them off #1 in 2004. It was Natasha Bedingfield, Maroon 5 and Keane. The world just wasn't ready for Kasabian.

YILWAP was certified platinum in August and LSF gold in October.
It's my personal opinion that YILWAP is the worst song they've ever released and the only reason it keeps getting accolades is because it was the lead single of their first big streaming album and is now forever sitting in the top tracks on Spotify, being clicked on by anyone who visits their page. A vicious circle.
