My favourite band after Kasabian. I've been a fan since I randomly heard Daughters of the Soho Riots in 2006 and just saw them again today for the first time since 2010, much much too long, but it was never convenient for me. They're still perfect, probably better than ever if anything, and they played Santa Clara, which is one of my absolute favourites and which they have only played about 10 times in total since its release in 2007.

I think they are very much underrated, for unclear reason. I feel like if they were a British band, they would be bigger in UK. And in US they are just lost between hardrock and mainstream pop.

Oh, this is fabulous. highroyds, is there an album due soon, do you know? I kind of unfollowed The National last year when I realised I couldn't get to see them live at the O2 (health-related). I couldn't face seeing all the updates from the tour coming up in my newsfeeds.

This was a leftover from the last album's sessions that they're giving away for free now if you buy the Mistaken For Strangers film. And because lots of people already have the film it's also on YouTube and Rdio etc. I'm not following them closely but I think they said they don't want to wait too long until the next album.

Makes sense now - it does sound in a similar vein to the Trouble Will Find Me songs. I've not yet seen Mistaken For Strangers. I think it's time

I bloody LOVE that song. I've almost over-listened to it already. It's kind of strange hearing Matt Berninger so cheerful and poppy sounding but it works so well. Got a ticket to see them at Camden Electric Ballroom in December. Are you going to any of the German EL VY gigs, highroyds?

I love them though, they're really cute somehow. They're coming to my hometown in December but I haven't made my mind up yet. In theory I'd want to see them, and I know I should, but I find the whole gig thing really difficult sometimes, that's why I only ever see Kasabian. Meh. :/

Ah, fair enough. I missed out on The National live last year because I was so ill when the tickets came out I couldn't envision myself being up to going - and then by the time they played I was OK and I wished I had.
This year I made a resolution to buy tickets where I could afford them and if I can't make it on the actual day, just write it off. Easier said than done when you have a ticket in your hand and you're not able to manage it though.
I want to hear the whole EL VY album like, NOW, but it's not out till October :/

I found a vinyl rip of A Lot of Sorrow the other day. There's something weirdly meditative about it. Although I'm only 8 tracks in, I might hate the song forever after all 99.

I like it, but it's not grabbed me as much as Return To The Moon. Probably cos it's even more different to The National. It's interesting though. Still can't wait to hear the whole album.
