I don't want Ian to only do interviews if it's about drums. He contributes to the music as well, he is a member of the band, I want to hear about him (and Chris) too. I don't really mind the cute silly interviews to be honest, they can be entertaining and funny and at times even enlightening. It shows other aspects and facets of the band and I actually really like that. But it would be nice to hear form all of them. I adore Serge, but it just feels, more than ever, that he is becoming the main and at times sole focus of this band.
I think some of it may come own to the fact that Serge not only feels much more comfortable with his role in the band, as well as the attention, but is even really enjoying it, which is great. Look back at Serge circa 2009 and before. He seemed much more reserved and shy and ill at ease with fans coming up to him ("Oh there are so many people...." I've heard him say). Even on stage it was Tommy who strutted around and Serge was a bit more reserved. Not any more, which is great. But, I do wonder if this has any kind of contributing factor?
This is something I've been kind of annoyed with/worried about for some time now. It seems to be getting more pronounced as time goes on, and I worry about resentments devloping with the others.

I worry about resentments devloping with the others. Nah no way. They love each other, and I don't think anybody in the band has a problem how the interviews and promos are organised. I think it's only natural that the songwriter and the frontman are doing it, and if the others don't want to be involved that much, it works perfectly with everybody. Serge has joked a few times that Chris and Ian are probably sipping cocktails in their deckchairs when him and Tom are answering the same questions over and over again. It's Aitor focusing on Serge which annoys me a bit but I know I'm very biased against him, so I'll keep my opinions to myself Also we're not sure about the vid yes, maybe the others are in the vid too? I don't think there has been a vid so far with only part of the band in it, except Narcotic Farm?

ARRG. I wrote a reply but it disappeared! Anyway, I'm sure you're right and I'm over-reacting (as usual). I'm sure Serge would never act in any way that would compromise or jepardize the rest of the band. I too am so annoyed withy Aithor. I used to defend him, mostly out of loyalty to the band because he is their friend and I don't like dissing their friends (except Noel and Liam ) But only using Serge and Tom just perpetuates people's misguided opinion that they are the only true/important/relavent members of the band. And then you have that idiot Noel saying things like he can only rememeber Tom and Serge's names! it jsut diminishes the others and their roles in the band.

Noel can't remember Tom's name either. He was saying Serge from Kasabian and the other one. Also I thought you were defending Aitor because you like pink

I've had actual arguments with people over Serge being not as much of a people person as Tom. There was one situation a few years ago when Noel G was playing TCT, and Serge and Miles and others attended. Some people followed them to a pub afterward, waited for them and ended up calling Serge something very rude for not coming over to talk to them. First of all, it was not his gig, he was with friends, maybe he didn't even realise they wanted something from him, he is under no obligation to talk to them. I think it's partly people's misconception that the band owes them somehow, and in his case they also tend to misread shyness for rudeness or arrogance. I know that feel. Makes me protective. He's the loveliest person ever, I talked to him for a bit last year (after meeting him more briefly before) and he was just completely wonderful. But I'm quite harmless and didn't screech at him or grab him, idk.
About Ian and Chris not doing interviews, I don't think promo is something that's particularly fun tbh. It's fun for us, but wasn't there a very recent quote from Chris saying they're all happy with the way things are? People have been saying T&S are hogging the limelight for 10 years. I remember on the old forum Chris' brother called them out on it at some point and said have you considered that they don't want to do interviews? Which is a shame because in Chris' interviews you get all of the facts and none of the bs. And I love love love reading Ian's drum interviews. I'm sure he's not sitting there like ugh, always the drums, I wish they would ask me about my personal life.

I've heard Tom described as rude and stand of fish only because he really doesn't like talking to people before a gig which infuriates me as we know how lovely and affectionate he is.
And I suppse Ian doesn't mind talking about drums, but for those of us who aren't drummers and don't really care what type of cymbal he uses, other types are interviews are nice too. And I like hearing what Chris has to say. But if they are happy with the set up so be it.

I've heard Tom described as rude and stand of fish only because he really doesn't like talking to people before a gig which infuriates me as we know how lovely and affectionate he is. I've met him before a gig and he was as sweet as ever. But it was ages ago, maybe he doesn't like to do it anymore now. They're only human and they might not be in the mood sometimes. I missed out on millions of opportunities because I never approach them if I have the tiniest feeling that they're tired or don't want to deal with fans. But I'd rather miss out than have them remember me for being pushy. Not judgmental, just a personal thing. I'm so tired I just nearly fell asleep in the shower, I hope I'm making sense here.

I get so angry. LIke you I am incredibly, perhaps foolishly, protective of them. When people insult them it's like they are insulting my family or friends. At the Paris show there were guys who saw Tom before the show and asked for photos and autographs and said he was rude and stand-offish, even one of my friends, who really should have known better!, said Tom could be unfriendly and my temper rose! I, calmly, pointed out that no, Tom is most definitely NOT rude, or stand-offish, or aloof, but a very very sweet man, but that he gets very nervous and anxious before shows and doesn't really like talking to people. I've had the honor of meeting him several times and he has always been (like all of them) charm personified. Adorable beyond belief. I also don't always ask for photos or autographs if I feel there are too many people around them. Sometimes it is just enough to say hi or thank you. But it seems now a days things don't count unless you can post them on facebook, and you can't post a hug, or a kiss or a smile. Huh, Rude? Stand-offish? Aloof? Sorry, you must be referring to Alex Turner You made complete sense.

I just thought of another press fail, but it's to do with the fans and not the band. I've read in a couple of places Kasabian fans described as knuckle-dragging, Jeager bomb swilling, football hooligans, which obvious describes us all here so well....I'll try to find the last place I read that, think it was earlier this year

Speaking of press fails, I just got my Q magazine and it's a total fail because it has Tom's '10 commandements' or 'rules of life' and it looks like that Tom knows very well that the Q journalists are never interested in anything he says about music, and all his 10 rules about et and sushi and whatever.
also i hope ian's not reading that issue because tom announces that jazz is dead to him. he should go and see his drummer playing some jazz in bristol, he might change his mind.
disclaimer: i have a bad headache and everything annoys me, I'm sure lots of people will find his list interesting and funny.

Ooops.. I came on here to publicly squee over how cute this is. Glad I didn't now. ? Nah you should totally squee as much as you want. I'm just grumpy! Also I discovered that tiny bit where he talks about 5 albums he loves and mentions my favourite Prodigy album and my favourite Zeppelin album, so it cheered me up a bit. I don't mean to sound boring about it, it's just I open the magazine and I expect something about their songs and music. I probably wouldn't mind the other stuff he talks about if there was somethign about music too. But anyway, do ignore my previous post and please talk about it as much as you want, I don't want to put anybody off expressing their opinions.

No I can understand that. I think for me, I've had a long busy week and have also received ssd news from friends which upset me, so this little bit of cuteness cheered me up.
