There are rumours that Robert Harvey of The Music is going to be their new singer.I have a lot of feelings. It kind of almost makes sense, because we've been all speculating about how they're going to handle some of the vocals, especially at the big festivals. But I think we also assumed that Serge would be the frontman. They put their one new promo pic with the four of them everywhere, so we assumed that's the line up. We bought tickets under the assumption that this is the line up. It would be very shady to just jump this on people after the whole tour has sold out. If this is true I'm going to be even more disappointed that they didn't just Beady Eye it and change the name.

Well, very unexpected choice. Even that nobody really knew what to expect. Robert is so different than Tom as vocalist. And probably they are right about this in the sense that they are not looking to replace Tom, but are looking for a new singer.

I'll admit to being nervous about the direction they decide to go.
I just can't see Serge working as lead vocalist for me. I think he sounds borderline appalling at times when he sings live. His vocal just sounds weak to me. Sorry, just my opinion.
It would be interesting to see Rob Harvey have a crack at it. I saw The Music support Kasabian back in 2006, and went to their final gig in Leeds a few years ago. Gotta be honest, can't really see him 'replacing Tom' either.
And that's probably my problem/fear... Kasabian not working without Tom.
12 days from now I guess I'll know.

The List confidently writes "Kasabian are a particularly interesting act to see in the line-up, as by this point they'll have a brand new vocalist" - I wonder if they know more than we do or they just assumed it was already confirmed. At this point I assume it's true. If it wasn't, they've had a whole week to let us know it's bullshit. On the other hand, they always had a very "we're so edgy because we hate Twitter haha if only there was a way to communicate with our fans" approach. Then again it's not like anyone is really talking about it. I love Serge's voice and think since around 2014 he's absolutely shown frontman qualities, and while he's no Tom I would have continued to support anything they'll do in the future. A new singer is grounds for divorce.

A new singer is grounds for divorce. THIS.
Selling tickets without telling their fans they are going to be served a new frontman. Even in my worst nightmares, I would never have expected this.
I am looking forward to know the audience's reaction when most of the people will discover there is an unexpected new singer.

Selling tickets without telling their fans they are going to be served a new frontman. It feels so calculated as well. They promoted everything with the picture of the four of them. It's blatant false advertising and should be a valid reason for people to get refunds if they want. A different singer is going to change the sound dramatically. And of course Serge taking over all the lead vocals would have too, but at least we know Serge, we knew he was in the band. They must have known we'd think he would sing.

The idea of Kasabian having new frontman intrigued me. They need one in some way as I think Serge couldn't fit some songs sung by Tom. But I'd be dissapointed if they do as they're advertised as Serge, Chris, Ian and Tim. The fact they don't speak a word besides announcing they're on tour shortly makes it more confusing. Will we see another famous Kasabian way of handling problem?

The tour starts in two days, I really wonder if they're going to make an announcement or it's going to be a nice surprise for the Glasgow audience.

I think everyone is reading into this way too much. Yes, I think Rob will probably join the band, but not as the lead vocalist. From the ALYGATYR live performance, it's pretty clear he's just gonna be taking the higher parts usually sung by Serge, and Serge is focusing more on the lower register in attempt for it sound as much like the old Kasabian sound as possible. Whether it's successful (and more importantly, GOOD) remains to be seen in full, but Serge will still be the driving creative and vocal force of Kasabian 2.0
Also, it's entirely possible that even I'm reading too much into this, and Rob is just there for the live performances. But I'm all but certain I'm right about the rest.

I don't think anyone is taking issue with the current situation. Before the tour started there were several articles claiming Rob would replace Tom as the lead singer. The band didn't deny it so I guess we kind of expected it to be true. It felt deceitful because they had been promoting the tour with that picture of the four of them. We have now seen that Serge sings lead vocals and Rob just hangs out in the back. I for one am perfectly fine with that.
