As suggested in the other thread, here's a place to speculate about what will happen to the band.

The one member I have completely no idea about is Chris. Serge went solo, Ian has always been more somewhat independent than the others and never lacked drum side gigs even at the height of the fame of the band, what does Chris do? Help Serge go solo? Become a producer? Become a session player? Leave the industry and do something else? I legitimately have no idea. He is a good solid player, it'd be a shame to see him leave the industry. Maybe they will try to go on without Tom, which is risky to say the least.

I think it's a bit too early for the band to make final decisions about their future together(or not). A small break seems much needed right now and then we will see... Also, knowing that before the lockdown they started working on album 7,what will happen with this material? As much as I love Serge I don't believe he can fill Tom's shoes as the lead singer.I mean, there are songs in their catalogue I can't imagine Serge singing them instead of Tom....But on the other hand,an addition of a new frontman will be risky as hell. Btw,people on facebook have already started recommending from Miles Kane to Gallagher brothers or even Noel Fielding...We are going to see many ''promoters'' like them in the near future.

Are there actually bands that have been successful after replacing their frontman? Even if they could find someone whose voice suits their style and songs, would it work live? Kasabian is known to be a great live act and people love to see them live. Tom knew how to take the audience. Even though Ian, and Chris are really good players and very nice-looking guys, I think the eyes of most people were always fixed on what Tom and Serge did onstage. To me they were Kasabian like Liam and Noel were Oasis. Serge taking over lead vocals completely... I can’t see how this could work. On the other hand, Take Aim for example is a great song sung by Serge and it works very nicely when they play it live!

In my opinion the best option would be to do a Beady Eye and continue together, without Tom, under a new name. If they ever reunite I'd be happy to see a Kasabian rebirth, but it's just not Kasabian without Tom.
Serge needs to sing Serge songs. I lowkey hate it when he insists on doing songs like Stevie or LSF because they're so Tom. They're clearly written for Tom's voice and Serge just sounds feeble and awkward performing them. No offense because I love Serge's voice, but on the right songs.

I think it's too early to tell what is going to happen with Kasabian. But surely they'll have a break. I don't think we should underestimate Serge's ability to become the frontman and reinvent the band, even if Kasabian would only have a fraction of it's fanbase. I'd actually rather se it turn into Serge's band than have a new frontman.

I know it's not strictly on topic, but if Serge decides to go the production route full time, I hope he produces Muse one day, a Serge - Matt Bellamy cooperation has some mad potential

For me the news was devasting. Tom is absolute diamond Of a guy who has his problems which is well known. Not for a minute condoning the situation but let’s give him support and hope That he gets to the other side. Not ruling out a return in time but personally think the band acted very well and also there’s been creative changes before and they will continue. What’s people’s thoughts

For me, FCOL was easily my favourite Kasabian album of the past decade and I really dug The SLP as well. It seemed like Kasabian were going in a really exciting direction and I couldn't wait for LP7. It's the first time I felt properly hyped for a Kasabian record since WRPLA. Fuck knows what's going to happen now. I'm hoping the new material Serge was working on will see the light of day, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't in the mood for it anymore. It makes me wonder if Serge's next batch of songs (be it SLP, Kasabian or whatever) might be a lot darker. After all, this has to have been a heavy time emotionally for him.

There is a side in me that wonders how Kasabian would sound like with a woman at the front, and now might be a good time to discover. I think a lot depends on how much faith the boys have in Tom getting his shit together, if they do then going the Beady Eye route might not be a bad idea for time being, if they don't... then they have even more difficult decisions to make.

Now could be the time to close chapter one of Kasabian and release a greatest hits album, just to pass the time. Chuck in some special bonus tracks, it'll keep us happy for a year or two, they can recover in peace.

Actually, if they are in the money grabbing business with a greatest hits album, one thing that would really get me excited is the Brixton DVD back from 2004, low chance but what a gift it would be. Or the gig at King Power.

It feels weird to talk about this after everything that’s just happened... but I’m glad we have the space to here. I agree with everyone that’s said if the remaining members are to continue it would be best to do so under a new name. Trying to continue as Kasabian, with the same kind of show and set list, would be a nightmare for so many reasons. Tom’s absence would be too conspicuous. Like others have said, Serge has a lovely voice, but it only works for HIS songs, there’s no way he could bring the right energy for songs like LSF or Club Foot. The thought of them continuing as Kasabian with a new singer brought in just makes me cringe. I can’t even think about it. It would be like a really naff karaoke, and again, there are so many songs that really only work, and work the crowd, with Tom. Serge, Ian, and Chris (maybe with Ben, Gary, and Tim’s involvement too) starting fresh, under a new name could be really promising. levitate that’s a good point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the music was darker, but then maybe there will also be material that had already been started. I feel so bad for the guys. I really hope they’re able to take their time with this, not just for creative reasons, but emotional ones too. I also realised that sadly there’s a chance the record company will be pressuring them in some way, the band must bring in a lot of money, and these executive guys will have been counting on that coming in over the next few years from tours and festivals. On a lighter note, if they want a new singer, maybe this is finally the time for Ben Kealey’s operatic voice to shine!
