A thread for one of the prettiest songs on West Ryder. This is its first performance - the bit in the middle is Domenico's speech from Tarkovsky's Nostalgia, which later became the intro for the arena tour gigs. I was very lucky to get to hear it live once in Birmingham - it sounded so perfect, Tom sat down on the drum riser and sang the background vocals. I regret so much not recording it and there are so few videos of this beautiful song, and it seems so unlikely now that they'll ever play it live.

It's a shame that they're not playing it, but British Legion came back after six years, there's hope... for everyone. Maybe it didn't really work live the way they wanted it to? It was probably too quiet for the big arena gigs, you can hear a lot of people talk over it on the recordings. They were alternating it with Silver Bullet in November 2009, but the two gigs I went to they played Silver Bullet once, and neither of them at the other for some reason, so I never saw it. I'd love to hear an acoustic version. They should do another episode of Songbook where Serge can play the rest of his neglected whispery songs.

Secret Alphabets is one of the songs I yet to and hope to hear live. Judging on the video it sounds different from studio version. Probably because of the orchestral part.

I was just going through the Wiki page for the album, and some Helmut Zacharias is credited with writing this song alongside Sergio. So what's the squeeze here?
