Is it too early for this thread? I'm not reading too much into the recent interview at the NME Awards because "Serge is always writing" is their standard answer, and the media likes to interpret that as "new album is imminent" as if they don't tour and just sit at home. But it's always fun to speculate. When do you think we can expect it? What is it going to sound like? What are you hoping for? Are they going to have another "funny" cover everyone hates?

I assume we can expect it for next year already because it seems like they are doing a quite "lazy" 2018 (similar to 2013 and 2016 when they didn't tour a lot). They could still tour South America and Australia with FCOL though. Personally I would prefer them to release the next album in 2020.

If they still tour during those it's never a lot, because they're usually working on the next album already. 2013 was probably the busiest one to date, that tour just didn't end. 2018 is only a second year so there should be a lot more happening. Maybe they're taking a break now because there will be more gigs after the festivals? If it's because they can't be bothered then I'd rather see them take a year off.

The new album will probably be out next year, not earlier. And what do i want/expect? Don't know what to expect to be honest, but i would like something less mainstream than the last album. Maybe something Empire-like, but then a bit longer;)

Already a thread about album 7!!!!Well,I'd love to hear from them something less poppy this time.More psychedelic maybe and I hope they keep it simple with the production.I don't expect anything from the cover to be honest but I would love it if they let fans to share some ideas about it.A cool graffiti could be an interesting choice for me...

Any chatter on the new album yet? Only piece of "recent" news I can find is from back in June when Serge is compared to Dr. Dre..

Any chatter on the new album yet? Only piece of "recent" news I can find is from back in June when Serge is compared to Dr. Dre.. The latest we got was Tom saying in September 2018 that they're going to take a break and he wants to make a solo record, but that wasn't any kind of official announcement, it was just once sentence in a Spanish interview hardly anyone read. Nothing since. I really hope they take a longer break this time tbh. Tom currently has a radio show on BBC Leicester, I haven't had time to listen to everything yet, but maybe he mentions something about their future plans somewhere in there www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06xv66s/episodes/player

I'm just curious if Tom indeed will make something on his own,in what direction will it be musically and how this will affect album#7's release date.

In the most recent episode (11 Feb) of Ian Stringer's podcast Tom said: "The thing is, we’ll be back. We’re going to make another record soon, so which is great. I spoke to Serge not too long ago, and everything is good".

By now I wonder if he said it last year in some kind of "end of the tour" mood where he just wanted to do something else. And then of course after two weeks they miss each other and just make a new Kasabian album.

And then of course after two weeks they miss each other and just make a new Kasabian album. In the first episode Tom mentioned that "he is writing some songs at the moment" and his plans for 2019 are "to look after the family and to write music". A week later he says that he doesn't know when they are going to record the album, it might be the end of this year or the beginning of the next one but "we need a break". But then in February we see this "We're going to make another record soon" thing. Maybe something has changed and Serge has some ideas, demos, and now they are planning to discuss it? It's just my guess. The whole mood is like there is no rush and Tom keeps saying "Everyone is doing their thing".

Sorry for going off topic, but I strongly recommend everyone to listen to these podcasts. Much better than any standard interview. Tom is very lovely and genuine as always, Ian Stringer is a brilliant broadcaster, very professional. No odd and unnecessary questions. Their discussions are free-flowing and funny. And there are some exciting details like Kasabian were Sonnet before Saracuse, their demo "I Get Around" was played on Filbert Street or Tom's experience of working as a sheet metal worker. With the band being on a break and off the radar at the moment it's probably the only source of any news about Kasabian.

Don't hold your breath. Lighting a BBQ during a British 'summer' can take weeks.... 🤣
