This album is very guitar based so far, Serge definitely stripped the electro back a bit.

I think all the negativity is from people who have only one thing in mind off them. Some like those electronic wooziness, some like those anthems and some like the more lyrically inclined songs.
From what I am seeing, they're putting out growers rather than bangers but I can't confirm it until they release the entire album. To disappoint at first then go boom in the face of those who stuck around to listen. Either way, I'd not be disappointed. I know what kinds of surprise they can come up with 😂😂

I think it has a bit to do with the fact that we've known PYLOI and CK for ages, so they're old news by now, and the two new ones people feel a bit meh about, so there's not really anything truly exciting happening? But we still know so little. My favourite songs on an album are hardly ever the big singles. Personally I don't think I'll be disappointed either. Even if it comes out and I like it less than any of their other albums, that doesn't take away the fact that I really really love their other albums.

Precisely this quote is why I feel this album could be better than Velociraptor! or at least on par with it. Velociraptor! was most definitely a grower. My first time listening I was disappointed but intrigued all the same. Within a week of its release, I was singing that album's praises and haven't stopped yet. 48:13 was the exact opposite. First time hearing it, I was floored and felt positive it was the beat thing they had put out. A month after its release, the shine was off the apple and I could feel myself growing indifferent to the majority of the tracks. Seems they learned their lesson from that one. Growers, not Bangers. That's how you make art. Is it May 5th yet? The wait for FCOL is killing me! 🙂

Now I only really like Treat and Explodes.

Yea I only really like "Bumblebee", "Treat", "Glass", "Explodes" and "Bow". Honestly, my favorite song from the 48:13 era is "Beanz". That song accomplished everything I wanted from the style of that album

Listened to it during my summer vacation on repeat, it's an album that makes you feel it is made for you once you let it grow on you.

Looks like this album might suppress the debut and Velociraptor and become my 2nd favourite after WRPLA (No chance of dethroning that one, I consider it the best album of this century so far). Loving the look of it so far.

So I think it's safe to say Ill Ray might just be the "banger" people were looking for! Even better - it's a banger AND a grower (10+ listens in less than 3 hours and it gets better every freakin time). I don't think I've ever been so excited for an album in my life! Of the 5 we've been privy to, My ranking goes: 1. Ill Ray (The King) 2. Bless This Acid House 3. You're In Love With A Psycho 4. Comeback Kid 5. Put Your Life On It Most of you will probably disagree with Acid House being so high, but I can tell from the live version they released that song is going to sound MASSIVE on the album proper. Also, PYLOI might be in last place, but that absolutely does not mean I think it is a weak song. If anything, it just speaks to how strong the songs on FCOL are 😎

Just gave all 5 tracks a few listens back to back and noticed Chris' bass playing is the most complex it's been since West Ryder. Man is earning his paycheck on this album and I absolutely love it
