One of the prettiest and most underrated songs on the first album. Also it hasn't got any votes in the favourite song poll yet and deserves all the love so it's getting an own thread. Do you like it? Do you want to see it live? What do you like about it? What do you think it's about? During Reading 2004 Running Battle Tom decides to explain in the middle of the song that it's about keeping it real. Some beautiful versions here and here.

Do you like it? - yes, i sure do!
Do you want to see it live? - certainly wouldn't mind
What do you like about it? - Running Battle and LSF are two chill-out songs on the album, and they are placed exactly where they should be (approximately in the middle)
What do you think it's about? - I don't know it for fact, but Running Battle sounds like all 4 members of the band did their fair share for it.

Running Battle sounds like all 4 members of the band did their fair share for it. Do you mean the lyrics? Or just the whole song? What made you think that? I'm curious!

Running Battle sounds like all 4 members of the band did their fair share for it. Do you mean the lyrics? Or just the whole song? What made you think that? I'm curious! I mean the whole song, music in the first place. Of course it is just my impression, because I don't know the background of this song. I mean who came out with the idea, who did exactly what, in which order and so on. Of course in that period Sergio and Karloff were involved in every Kasabian song. It is subjective but to me Club Foot and Empire (song) are the most vivid example of cooperation between these two. They have electro and rock, much energy and tempo, just what one would expect from Pizzorno and Karloff judging on their character. But Running Battle has some laid-back, relaxed element, which I would expect from Chris Edwards judging on his (relatively) quiet character. But it also has a little of rebellion element, which one would expect from Tom, especially 22 old Tom. So this is what my impression is build upon. Maybe stretched a little, but still;)

Aw I like your interpretation and how you see their characters in the song.

Glad you like it;) I always believed the personality of an artist finds its way in his music. Of course if we are talking genuine musicians, not commercial staff...

I personally like Running Battle. Just doesn't get the love it needs from most people. I love it when it drops to a still and there's this synth going that makes it feel you're travelling to another dimension. I think I kept it in the top 10 list of my personal choice

I like it but I wouldn't have it in the live sets.

It was one of my favourite moments at iTunes festival yesterday, Tom sounded so gorgeous, and Ben ( and everybody else) played it so close to the album version. Loved the chorus so much when Tom and Serge sing together. I've been very very lucky to see live a few times this year and it always amazes me how funky it sounds live, I danced so much to it yesterday.

The first time I started listening to their first album in full, this is the one that stuck to me most not only on a personal level but the entire feel of the song is like a perfect anthem. It's chock full of things going on and there's so much emotion that would get the lyrics stuck in your head.
Or maybe that's just me.
