I love this band!
I first saw them at a little pub (The Prince Albert) in Brighton, in February last year, when they were virtually unheard of. It was clear to see they were headed for big things.
Saw them again supporting Kasabian and thought they played a good set, despite a fairly lacklustre (to be expected for a support band) crowd.
Last night, I went to their album release gig at The Hippodrome (what a dive!) in Kingston and they blew the roof off the place! Band were superb, crowd were extremely lively and a great time was had by all.
If you've not yet listened to their debut album, give it a go. Lots of catchy songs to get the crowd jumping, as well as some slower tracks; Deep Grass is my favourite from the album. If you like it, you must see them live. Highly recommended!

I'm meaning to listen to them properly this weekend as I keep hearing about them from everyone. I didn't see them supporting Kasabian but remember listening to 1-2 songs before the Leicester gigs and wasn't terribly impressed.

If the songs you heard were their really well known songs, and you didn't like them, then it's unlikely you'll like much/any of their stuff. But still worth a listen, just in case

I'd say if you don't like any of these, then you definitely aren't going to be interested in any of their stuff.

Ha ,I've never been in the Hippodrome ,I didn't think it could be as bad as the other New Slang venue but not a bad price to pay I suppose with the Banquet gigs.I did try to give Blossoms a listen and liked Getaway and Charlemane if that's how you spell it but I couldn't really get into them. Least they aren't as bad as Catfish ,they are so boring and vastly overrated in my opinion.

When I walked into The Hippodrome, I felt as though I'd been transported back to some dreadful 80s nightclub, complete with sticky carpet Yeah, I can't get into Catfish despite giving them a few listens. There's just something about Blossoms' sound and Tom's voice that grabbed me from the start.

I listened to their album when it came out and was pleasantly surprised. Not that I expected them to be awful, I'm just generally suspicious of NME's hyped band of the month. But these sound delightfully 80s somehow, quite enjoyed it.

Listened to all 4 you recommended pip - liked Charlemagne a lot, and they do sound like a decent band, but couldn't really get into them. Very soothing sound though, I could do with a support band like them at Kasabian gigs
