I didn't know where to put this but it might be a controversial opinion, so. I think they should take a proper break after this year. Not just their usual two weeks at home and then immediately start writing the next album. Even if the word "comeback" gets thrown around everytime they release an album, it has usually been about a year in the making. So during all the "breaks" they were either still touring or already working on the new album.
It's weird because I used to dread it so much, them just disappearing for a few years, but everything has been so uninspired lately that I feel like it might be a healthy thing to do. I wouldn't say FCOL disappointed me, I do love it, but something feels different about this whole era, and I've heard from loads of people that they feel the same.

Great post highroyds and so true. They should do some nice stuff this year to finish the FCOL era, some nice gigs for us all to visit (I like the direction, seems like they actually play some unusual places), and then maybe take a break. A bit like Arctic Monkeys after 2013/2014 maybe?
