Who's watching, who's there? I came back today to see my fb newsfeed very divided about Kanye. I don't have strong feelings about him, but watched a bit of his set and he is very entertaining, I don't think he deserves all the hate he gets. Watching The Chemical Brothers set now, bloody amazing - I'm so tired and sleep deprived after my dutch gigs, but it's keeping me awake.

I watched Kanye West. I like him but I think the music was too loud so you couldn't hear the vocals well enough.

I much preferred Lionel Ritchie. What a professional. Really knows how to interact with his audience.
There was so much swearing during Kanye West that we started a drinking game. The highlight of that show for me was the stage invader - and I couldn't help but think of Kasabian on the same stage last year when he did Black Skinhead.

It's funny, sometimes I can persuade the BBC iPlayer to work for me (Austria) and sometimes I can't. But I managed to watch a bit of Weller and then the Who highlights. I think I even fell back in love a little bit with Roger Daltrey last night. I had a horrible crush on him when I was about 14 and saw "Tommy" for the first time. (Not when it came out, I'm not that old. ) I got over that, but I still love "Tommy" and The Who music in general. So therefore, I enjoyed that. Here, if anybody is interested, are the Sleaford Mods: Must be the live effect from a few weeks back, but I just can't help myself liking those guys more and more!

I saw a snippet somewhere of the whole security team dancing along too I like it when they dance along. They did that during Dolly Parton's "Jolene" last year. During Paloma Faith's set, (beginning of "Ready For The Good Life"), she asked everyone to turn to the person next to them and say something nice to them. It was great hearing the rumble of people talking to each other and the people in the front talked to the security guys and gave them a hug.

Kasabian should try it at some rough gigs when everybody gets aggressive and pushing each other

I agree. They do get some rough people. It's a constant dilemma nowadays when I'm buying tickets for Kasabian whether to get them downstairs or up. Ironically when I was younger and into Thrash metal, I never had these problems! Blokes at a Slayer, Anthrax or Metallica gig looked rough, but they were always managed to avoid you when moshing or stage diving and because I'm short, they always let you stand in front of them.
The Glastonbury security seem to get into the spirit of things. You must have seen plenty of security guys in your travels. Any particular nice ones?

It seems that the Kanye's stage invader was Lee Nelson. He was the comedian who stage-invaded the X Factor last year. Seems he's on a quest.

Wow that's intersting what you say about metal gigs because I imagined them more aggressive. From all the security I've seen, Showsec people are the best - extremely professional, caring and attentive. If I see their yellow shirts, I know I'm safe. The worst security I've seen was in Brighton in 2011, when I was being hit on purpose by a huge guy who was telling the security to pull me out so he'll get to the barrier. I asked for help, and the security just shrugged as in 'you shouldn't have queued for the barrier then'. I survived though From nicer memories, a lovely showsec guy comes to my mind who was in Doncaster in 2013. He was a huge Kasabian fan, and knew every single word to all the songs. He sang along to everything, while working very hard - it was a lively gig and there were millions of crowdsurfers - and never turned back to look at them. Brixton guys are super friendly too, looking after us still in the queue, giving sweets and things. And the funniest must be the security guy who highroyds mentioned in the Utrecht thread, who was dressed up in a lovely 3 piece suit and a tie, did absolutely nothing and could cry when they threw beer on him. Poor thing would run away screaming from a UK gig. Although he handed Serge's plectrum to me, which was thrown from stage and landed in front of me on the other side of the barrier

Poor thing would run away screaming from a UK gig. Europeans are not used to the beer throwing. I remember a photographer at a German gig who got showered 20 seconds into the set and was absolutely outraged. But it's very annoying when it gets all over your camera. Then again, you're a gig photographer. Shit happens.

Haha at least I can promise you that UK queues are relatively stress-free. I'd rather have a rough gig and not stress out about getting to the barrier.
