Lvov is a wonderful city though. I hope the snow will not get in the way. It will be a little adventure. Flight is going from Brussels to Krakow. Nobody in Poland wants to give us a rental car for the Ukraine so we have to take the train to Przelysm 13 km before the EU border. From there via taxi to the Ukraine border. Then WALK out of the EU and take another taxi on the other side to Lvov. Same thing back to the border on Friday with a train from Przelysm to Warsaw and from there back to Brussels. Loving it already. The border looks like fun. Oh yes, the border is always fun;) The only downside is that you cannot take drugs with you. For some reason they get very nervous around them.

Have you done it the same way? I was not sure if everything will work but I talked to a guy who did it several times and it seems to be a good solutions. Taxi from the Ukraine border to Lvov seems to be 20-30 Euro for 1 1/2 hours. That's more than a bargain. Flights are 30 Euro total.

It is a good solution, the roads are much better now - after the European Cup. And normally you do not get any problems or delays when you enter Ukraine. When you enter Poland from Ukraine though, you might get in a queue for a couple of hours. Because they have small capacity for a lot of traffic at the Polish side. But this is the only problem we encountered. It was from 2007 to 2010 by the way, but i do not think it changed much now.

Dortmund ? ...
I think that should be possible if you keep an eye on the pre-sale dates. But there's a good alternative with Cologne-Frankfurt same weekend with tickets on sale already.

My son wants to see them play. We've booked the weekend away as a surprise. I'd be happy enough going to any game. Looking forward to seeing what the football museum is like.
