A while ago we got a question on the blog about what to expect at a gig, not in terms of the show or the setlist but the general logistics, including queueing and venues. We answered here, maybe some of it is of use to someone, but I thought we should have a thread about it here as well, since I've seen a few people mention they are going to their first gig. So tell us anything you can think of, helpful advice, tips on how certain venues operate, what to expect at the barrier, your personal queueing secrets and moshpit experiences...

Some random venue tips:
Oosterpoort Groningen and Doncaster Dome let you queue inside, there are cafes and toilets there too.
Wolverhampton Civic Hall is an awesome venue but has 7 door so if you're queueing make sure you check which ones they're opening - I have a horror story how I queued for whole day being told that they're opening all of them at the same time, and 5 minutes before the doors the security said they're not opening our door.
We all collectively hate Tivoli Utrecht as you know after last week - never going back there again, or if I go, I'll do sitting.
Brixton is the best, most organised venue, with very friendly and reliable security. If you turn up early enough to queue, nothing can go wrong.
Any tips about Edinburgh Corn Exchange?

Victoria Park = Massive venue and greatly organized. What a shame that the setlist was a bit of a letdown IMO. (Although it was still a fantastic gig)

Edinburgh Corn Exchange was the hottest venue I've ever seen, even though the security were passing water to us all the time, it was still impossible, we were all dripping wet when we came out, I saw so many people fainting. Otherwise it's nice and organised, with a cafe and a pub attached to it.
