One of my favourite Serge songs. It shocked me when I heard it live for the first time because I never expected to be the loud monster it is. I find the drums and the trumpet so mesmerising, it's just magical. And I love that it has evolved so much and has acted like a surrogate mother to lots of intros and outros. My favourite version is with the Clockwork Orange intro and Everybody outro. I have lots of mixed feelings about The Doberman intro because I want to hear all of it not a tiny snippet but it's still better than having nothing. Also The Doberman intro means that Serge is skipping the first verse in Take Aim.

One of my favourite songs in general, not just of Serge's. Before I saw it live for the first time I thought it would be one of the calmer songs and decided it would be a good opportunity to take a few pictures. I think at the time we didn't have extensive footage from every gig the way we do now, and I'm pretty sure we didn't have the first pro recording of Take Aim until 2010, so I didn't really know what to expect. In 2011 I thought the Thick as Thieves/Take Aim combo would be replaced by Man of Simple Pleasures and Acid Turkish Bath in the set, because they're kind of their equivalents on Velociraptor, and I was sure I was ready to let it go after hearing it so many times... now they're still playing it. And they've been doing so many exciting things with it since.
I love the drums during the first verse, I don't know what it is about them, maybe it's more of a visual thing. I actually filmed it specifically at TCT last year just so I could look at it. And Gary of course. He wasn't there for the European tour 2009, but I feel like at the time it wasn't as noticeable, or maybe it just didn't strike me as much because it was my first time hearing the song live. Jay was playing his parts at the end. But it was really wrong in Brussels 2012, it sounded flat and empty without him.
Confession: I don't like it much with strings.

It's also one of my favorite Kasabian songs. I fell in love with the O2 DVD version, but I also have a very soft spot for the acoustic "Lucca" version. I so hope that they're gonna play it in Munich, would love love love to hear it "real" live.

And this kind of songs usually sound great "normally" and acousticly.

I remember that conversation we had, about letting it go and then we heard it again in Berlin/Hamburg with the new little buildup bit and it was so gorgeous. It's been getting prettier and prettier since. It's also one of my favorite Kasabian songs. I fell in love with the O2 DVD version, but I also have a very soft spot for the acoustic "Lucca" version. I hope you get to hear it live in Munich!
