"I find their arrogance ludicrously silly, and their habit of talking absolute bollocks doesn’t exactly make me like them any more".
Don't you love a review which starts with a misinformed personal attack on the musicians.

Oh good more prejudiced drivel from people who have only skimmed an NME article from 6 months ago and not actually listened to the album. Next.

Appparently everyone can be a musical critic/journalist nowadays, so here is my short review. Have been listening to 48:13 for almost two weeks now and am ready to make some conclusions. First of all it has the most "cosmic" feel of all 5 albums to me, and thus most "trance" effect, which probably makes it my favourite (will see if West Ryder is ready to abdicate). This sound has probably everything to do with Serge producing the album, but i don't know, just evaluating the result. The album is also very fast, just like Empire it is finished before you know it. Despite a lot of electrics actually only two songs do not have guitars at all - Shiva and Eez-eh. Maybe you can also count Explodes, if you forget the outro. Plenty of heavy guitars as wel, which makes songs... how should i put it... 3D or something. Treat is a good example. Stevie might be the best vocal of Tom up to now. S.P.S. might be the the best vocal of Sergio up to now. Bow might be their best vocal collaboration. By the way, i realise Sergio performs Explodes, but i am still hearing Tom. It is not even the sound of the voice, but the way he sings it. Especially the seconds verse. So declair me crazy if you want, just saying what i feel. A lot of beautifull drums all over the album, love the one in Stevie especially. My favourite guitar of the album is in Clouds and Treat. There were no songs in this album that didn't strike me directly. This unlike West Ryder and Velociraptor! where i grew to understand Take Aim and Re-wired only after half year of something. But still a lot of "growers": Clouds, Glass, Treat, and of course Doomsday, which acid sound is the best described by cybersyd in this thread. The placement of Eez-eh in the album is just perfect. The way Clouds ends and Eez-eh starts just makes my head explode (sorry for the plagiarism). And if i have to give the album an evaluation from 1 to 10, well, i cannot give 11, so it is 12.

Yes, yes, yes and yes to all the statements above and generally to your review

Maybe you mean live version?

I think i know what you are referring to, but couldn't tell if it is a guitar. I believe you can make this sound with syntesizer as well. But it could be guitar after all, just produced in this way.

There is definitely a guitar in the chorus playing the same part that Tim is playing live. It's buried in the mix though, only audible in the right channel underneath all the electronics. I can't hear any real bass guitar though...

I'd love if they did a new mix with much louder guitar and Chris' excellent bassline!

My review.
(shiva)
The song is almost empty at the start, making you think if anything is in there, all of a sudden you hear this cosmic brilliance seaming out, then there's a feel as if a mothership has come on to the scene, all of a sudden, and there! It takes off!
bumblebeee
All of a sudden it breaks into these shouts reminiscent to songs on Velociraptor! And the music suddenly calms down to Tom singing the verse which seems like a tribute to the fans, wait, there's more. The chorus breaks down into this massive roar and bang! Instant moshpit! The drums are obviously good for headbanging, wish the organ part wasn't there and the bass was more prominent.
stevie
This song starts of with killer cello stabs, trumpets and a beautiful guitar intro, then the Olé shouts is just inspirational. This will stick in your head, and is more like your own childhood fighting for yourself. The chorus is great for a singalong, and can easily make it into some commercial. Got to admire Tim's guitar works. The break is euphoric, with Sergio and Tom breaking into heart pounding lyrics.
(mortis)
Something about this reminds me about Pink Floyd, with Sergio's grandfather speaking 'In mortis ora incerta est'.
doomsday
This is a real fuck you to the critics. Bangs on you. Bangs on you again. Pre-chorus is npt something you would usually get from Kasabian mostly, but the chorus proves Sergio is amazing when it comes to monumental chouruses. Again, good work by Chris on the bass
treat
The synth takes you to another world, with the lyrics seems to naughtily suggest towards a BDSM theme, but the impression is easily created and this is another pinnacle and will obviously be a good dance theme live
glass
This looks like a mix between Middle Eastern strings and modern electronica. The chourus is seriously wrenching, something like an improvisation on La Feé Verte. The story at the end would make it or break it for you depending on preference. Although it's a pretty good song describing the fucked up world.
explodes
The title may fool you in thinking this is going to explode your speakers or something. Don't be disappointed with that, as it's more of Sergio's thinking head, something explosive should keep on happening in his experimental brain. Someone who has been intp sound production can relate. The music is groovy, eerie, and psychedelic at the same time. The outro is just good for dancing alone in darkness.
(levitation)
A small interlude, a calm moment good for something explosive as this album
clouds
Another synth special, with poisonous lyrics. Chorus, as expected, is great as a singalong. The solo is something to be forgotten. A dull moment on the song. Somegreat drums on the song though
eez-eh
No 11 on the album, this is like their star striker in a team tearing apart defences. Lyrics are cheesy and comical with great breaks in between. The dubstep is short and amazing. Muted guitars through the song make it amazing
bow
This is like making through a journey and still missing someone even when you are receiving praises
sps
A good acoustic Beatles like song for reunions. Peaceful night with crickets in the background. Beautiful end to the album
Overall rating. 8/10
