I have to start with a confession - I didn't like it at all when the album came out. I used to skip it a lot and it was only 2009 that it hit me that it's so gorgeous and hot. Now I don't know what was going on in my head. I love pretty much every version, the really old pre-empire ones, the ones with I Feel Love outro and Organ Donor intro. It was so special when they brought it back in Munich in Arpil 2013 when they were having a mini Empire period, I hope it wasn't the last time I was hearing it.
One of my favourite versions, with the scary eyes backdrop. Does anything know / remember anything about it? I wish we had proper pics of it.

I remember falling hard for the song when I first heard it, on a Toronto '05 bootleg I used to have and again pro-shot at that year's T in the Park. It sounds a little heavier and I loved when the intro came back in with a sudden jolt following the first verse.
Around the same time, I caught a little snippet of it during the Green Street trailer in the cinema. Sounded massive!
Then when I heard it on the album, I was disappointed. It sounded weaker and a bit more watery than the live version I'd played to death.
There's a demo version kicking around, from a clear out of a Sony storage unit (I think?) and it's a lot closer to the Green Street version. Problem is, it's very slow and it's tricky to speed it up to the correct pitch.

Yes, the demo versions (there are actually 2) from Sony clear out, I bought it on ebay and uploaded to 1212 some while ago and somebody did some speeding up at some point (who was it highroyds?) I'm never sure about the Green Street version, I've never seen the movie and the bits on youtube seem to have the album version I think? Is there any chance you have it? Is it very different?

Someone in the Kasabian bootleg thread on the L4E forum fixed the speed, I think it was Jim. But it was slowed down on the original CD, we didn't mess with it before. About the eyes, wasn't there something recently where Tom said that Rosario did something for them for the screens during a tour pre West Ryder and you said maybe it was something with the eyes? But the interview was in a language I had to Google translate, and that was the only time I've heard anything like that, so I have no idea if it's true or if someone mixed something up. I wish we had at least one proper DVD from the Empire era. Do you still have that Toronto bootleg stannis?

I wish I did, it was one of the Kool Haus gigs from May 2005.
Cuttoff, I'm fairly sure the Sony demo version/s and the Green Street one are the same, based off of the trailer clips that I've heard since. Never did come across that speeded up version, I'll need to have a hunt!

Ok I just watched it all and it's not there. I found the script online and it mentions stuntman there at some point but i found that bit in the movie and it's not stuntman.

Oh according to the script it is during the first football match scene. Will try to look for the US releases today - now I'm really curious about that version.

Weirdly I was the same! And now when I listen to it, live and on album I ask myself, what was I thinking??? One of my fave live versions was Brixton/V festival 2010 when they segued it with Donna Summer's I Feel Love which I thought was stunning.
