I was sorting some old articles today and came across to this quote from Serge in August 2010 Q magazine. Any guesses which song was called Gypsy initially?  |

I was sorting some old articles today and came across to this quote from Serge in August 2010 Q magazine. Any guesses which song was called Gypsy initially? Maybe he is talking about "I Hear Voices"? Because no track on Velociraptor! associates with Jacksons 5, but "I Hear Voices" sounds the most "disco" to me. |

I Hear Voices was my very first thought too because it's dancey but does it really have a 'driving bass'? Then I thought Days because of the bass. highroyds thinks it might be Re-wired and I think it's probably the best guess. |

Highroyds is probably right. Also the name "Gypsy" would match "Re-wired" lyrics better. The song might not have had lyrics at that point. The interview is from May 2010 (part of it takes place at Alicia Keys' Black Ball) so they would have been at the very early stages. Serge was still writing lyrics in San Francisco almost a year later. Whatever it was, it could have been a completely different song at that time. |

Well, no lyrics makes it more confusing;) But still I think "Re-wired" qualifies the best because of the bassline and "I Hear Voices" is the second possibility because of disco feeling. But with Serge - you never really know... |
