I thought I'd make this so we can talk about random things that are not interesting enough to warrant their own thread.
I'm in the middle of listening to all their albums in chronological order and there's something about the gap between Velociraptor and 48:13 that always makes me feel like I skipped an album. Maybe because the Velociraptor tour was so long, it felt like a whole extra era in 2013.

Nice idea!
Was listening to the Brits Awards version of Fire the other day from 2010, was Tom’s best vocal of the song for sure. Band sounds really heavy too. Was great!

Imagine telling your 2006 self that Pete & Carl are happy, healthy and making music together while Tom & Serge are divorced and not talking.

What does it mean? 9pm? 2100 hours? That's 87 days. January 3rd. Cutt Off's 17th birthday.

I just went on Tumblr for the first time in a while and noticed that some posts on Empire have been flagged as adult content by the AI. Pictures of Tom singing into a microphone or a close up of Serge's fingers playing piano, which was obviously recognised as naked limbs or something, it's kind of hilarious. I have to appeal by explaining what's in the pictures and then a human evaluates whether this is sexy or not.

Woke up to a ton of Google alerts. Turns out Linda Kasabian has died.

Just stumbled upon this Guardian article with Serge around the time of the new album release (https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/article/2024/jun/29/serge-pizzorno-of-kasabian-looks-back). I found this quote really irritating/eyebrow-raising:
"I didn’t know what anything meant any more, and I was terrified it might be over. It’s incredibly personal because that decision affected my family, my management and the rest of the band. Because of the trauma that we went through for 10, 15 years [within the band] we decided we weren’t going to say anything about it publicly. We know what happened, the truth, and we’ve known for a long time. Now we just feel lucky we can carry on playing these songs to the people who want to hear them."
With Tom sacked in summer 2020, is Serge really insinuating that Tom was a 'problem' for the band as far back as the Empire record?! It feels like both sides of the argument are seemingly hell-bent on rewriting the history of this band. It still cuts me deep to this day.
