Well, I love all four albums equally and I can find a reason to call each of them my favorite. But I believe West Ryder is their best album, because it says "Kasabian" most of them all. Usually a band can make only one album of this nature (maybe with exception of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd) - meaning it is very distinctive, recognizable and (relatively) accessible. So I agree with highroyds, it is probably impossible to surpass West Ryder, because it is already ideal in absolute measurement.
And besides that this album is one of the best rock albums of all time, so put it in one line with "Dark Side of the Moon", "Violator", "Physical Graffiti", "Machine Head", etc.

Empire, because I just love it and have since day one. I think I already told that story when you asked about the favorite songs from each album. I heard the song "Empire" one day years ago, fell in love with it, went out to buy the whole album without having any idea who or what Kasabian are, put it on and loved the whole thing, without understanding why. Back then, it was more or less just guitar music for me, Rock, Grunge, a bit of Metal, but hardly anything electronic. Long before I discovered that there is more to Kasabian than that one album, whenever I put it on, I hardly ever was able to not listen to it in full. I cannot really put it into words, but among all four of them, it is the only one that really feels totally persistent to me, like bits of one big piece. I love all four of them, but if I had to pick one to take with me to that lonely island, it would be that one. It pains me a bit to see that even among fans it usually is the least loved and I will never understand that. But it is a matter of taste, of course.

I love all of them. But I think their best album is West Ryder. When I listened to it I thought "This is for Kasabian what Violator is for Depeche Mode, or Nevermind for Nirvana, or The Dark Side Of The Moon for Pink Floyd..." WEST RYDER IS THEIR MASTERPIECE. Such a pity I wasn't a fan in 2009.

If you ask all Kasabian fans about their favorite album, Empire will probably score 25% voices. Just as each of other albums;) And as for me - I do not have less loved album of Kasabian. I have 3 favorite albums and 1 little bit more favorite, if you know what i mean;)

Maybe it is just the more casual listeners. Not that it matters, I find it just puzzling.

Unpopular opinion, but I'm with dingo on this, my favourite is Empire. Empire is when I first discovered Kasabian and it was the first Kasabian album I owned - it was instant love. What I love about Empire is the perfect mix of psychedelic rock and trippy, trancey, electronica. It’s a severely underrated album, I think it’s when they started to really mature in their music and find their “sound”.

Yep same .It was seeing Empire being performed that got me into them and the track still and will always be the one that has a special place in my heart and could just watch it on repeat over and over and was gutted when it wasn't included on the Kasabian @o2 ,and yes I do know it was on the concert live one but for some reason I don't play it much. For me West Ryder is the only one where I do skip a couple of tracks especially Ladies ....and fire does grate on me abit hence that's why it's not included on my ideal setlist. But so far they haven't done a dud one .

Wow it's so nice to see all the love for Empire, it's usually the least loved baby of the family.

My favourite is West Ryder, simply because I never have to skip a song when I'm listening to that album I think no. 2 would be the first album, it's stoned and sexy and I love it! I kinda feel bad for Velociraptor. It got no votes It's such an amazing album too!

I was sure Velociraptor would get the most votes.
It's really hard to pick a favourite at all because I adore all of them, and musically they're quite different, you can't really compare them, so I have to decide on a purely emotional level. West Ryder was simply the most exciting thing I had ever heard and it changed everything for me. Lots of good things happened in my life that can be traced right back to that album coming out. Meeting new friends, regular travelling to different countries, doing things I'd never done before, my health improving, having a lot of fun. It just came and fixed everything.

S/T debut is my favorite. I always love and prefer debut albums, almost all of my favorite works of the bands I listen to are their debuts. S/T has the most electronic effects, and also has the most moody and intense sound. Kasabian's newer albums have gotten less and less intense (although I think they're bringing it back for VR! and the 5th) These were also the songs that made me fall in love with Kasabian - Club Foot, Reason Is Treason, and Cutt Off especially.
I rank it as my second favorite album of all time - after K, by Kula Shaker. WRPLA is my second favorite Kasabian album, because again, it's written with the most emotions and heart, and also has such an immersive and fascinating concept and feel about it.
