Aitor posted a series of new photographs with Serge called The Rite of Spring (a Stravinsky reference?). You can see all of them on his website, here is a preview from his instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/_EZnJ6rmi4 and a few random ones What did you think people? I'm not particularly impressed, it's the same old Aitor style, masks, barefoot Serge, black and white, references to his own vids, the only new thing is a few flowers stuck in Serge's mouth Do you think it means more involvement in the next album? Are we going to have a flowery album covers this time?

I think they are both in "self-spot" stream at the moment. But they probably should try to make it more ridiculous than serious.

I feel, especially with these new pics, featuring both the water guns and the helmet from previous Kasabian videos, like Aitor just sees all his work with them as a part of his own personal art project. None of it is something he came up with for Kasabian. The Velociraptor drawings are identical to his "sketch of the day" things. When he promised something groundbreaking and revolutionary for the Glasto and Leicester shows, it was just the same old thing he had done before, upside down words on a big screen. I don't want to go on about Wiz all the time, but it's the only comparison I've got, and my impression was always that he made unique art for the band, to represent their album, their music. It wasn't about him, he wasn't just using them as models for his own stuff.
I'm not a fan of Aitor's work past the Switchblade Smiles video because it's not original, and his fixation on Serge is getting really annoying. He went on record saying there are two people in Kasabian, and he'd probably gladly forget about Tom as well if they didn't come as a sort of set. He made the Bow video only with Serge, he loves taking Serge's clothes off, and it's his fault that the 48:13 album releases don't have Paradise numbers. I could go on. I miss the days when my biggest problem with the guy was the lack of colours.

Would be nice if Aitor also read this so that he would not get carried away.

Those sloping shoulders and stooped back. It's all so wrong.

I am so tired of Aitor inflicting himself on the band's look and style and Serge's inexplicable admiration for him and the near certainty that Aitor will be sticking around. I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter so long as the music is good but he just seems to have way too much influence on Serge and that worries me.

highroyds has nailed it, and I agree with pretty much everything everyone else has said on this thread too. Points against Aitor - loads Points in favour of Aitor - unites the fandom in dislike I don't doubt he's a great guy and that but his art and design work is just so much meh.

You know what's really ironic? It looks like that Aitor's most-loved work is the Switchblade Smiles video, which was right in the beginning of their collaboration and he wasn't fixated on Serge so much. Aitor himself said in the Velociraptor tourbook that the video is about the power of four:
"The video for Switchblade Smiles was all about putting over this message of unity and power of four. The video was designed to accentuate the fact that the band are one unit, so everything is very small and tight. Even the instruments are black. It symbolises the fact that the four of them are part of one bigger organism".
This is my only favourite thing he's ever said, and it shows that he totally listened to them and got their ideas initially. The band were going on about the 'pack of four' all the time then and Aitor appreciated it and made the vid according to the band's outlook. That's why it worked beautifully. But then things changed and got boring and nothing was about power of four anymore. By the time he was undressing Serge for Bow, he must have forgotten who the other 3 were.

Aitor launched a new tumblr blog a few days ago and a new site for his sketchbook archive today. Lots of Serge Kasabian pics there as expected (there is even a pic of Tom on his own, and you can see Ian and Chris in a gif!). I don't know about the sketchbooks archive, gave up after 10 minutes of scrolling - both the blog and the site are hard to navigate and everything looks pretty much the same. Sample drawing

Aitor had an epiphany: “On the 13th of February 2015 at 22:30 on a train from London to Burnley I had a creative epiphany. I liberated myself from my own creative ego. I liberated myself from my deep set insecurities which had not allowed me to freely express myself or my ideas up to that point. I realized I didn’t need to create stories, narratives or concepts to create. I realized that I was free to create. My next collection is a self-portrait celebrating this event.”
I think this either means new directions and no Kasabian for him, or these new vids will end up being the new Kasabian visuals.

"I liberated myself from my ego... my next collection is a self-portrait" Maybe Kasabian already know they'll take so long to finish the album that he can do his collection before and it won't interfere? The fact that he didn't borrow another Kasabian song for the new video seems like a good sign though.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BGkOY6mON2r Serge watching Aitor's new collection which is a self-portrait. Idk about 'new' because Serge was wearing his masks already in 2013. I also hope he didn't make that creepy music.
