The debut album was released 10 years ago today! Let's talk about how amazing it is, pick your three favourites in the poll if you haven't yet, share your memories... Reason is Treason was the first song that really caught my attention. I have a feeling I had probably heard at least Club Foot and LSF before, but I wasn't really interested in the band. Then I heard Reason is Treason somewhere and was like woah, what's that? I need whatever album this is on right now. It was after Empire was released, so I was a tiny bit late to the party, but it's strange to think that Empire was the new album at the time.

It's still the best album they've done. Full of energy and has most of my favourite songs on it too.

I also bought this album right after Empire, but it opened a lot of new things for me in music. This is when i started to learn to understand many new genres and bands, who i just ignored before.

One of my favourite albums ever, if not the favourite. I've been listening to it for almost 10 years now (I discovered it in October 2004), and never gets old. And what is especially mindblowing how and where it was made, and how young and unexperienced they were then. And yet it sounds as complete and mature as their latest albums. ( source)

Wow guys, we need a 15th anniversary thread for the debut now. Time flies! I've spent literally half of my life listening to my all time favorite band!
This album is still a masterpiece. There are no weak tracks. ID is still my favorite song in the universe. The dark psychedelic vibe is still mesmerizing. The only thing holding this one back is their future albums would get more ambitious. This one kinda plays it safe, genre wise - but it is still a sonic kaleidoscope. Their lyrics would get sharper as they went on, but the enigmatic, almost beatnik style they deploy here is still as enjoyable as it was 15 years ago. It's still technically perfect - it's just the simple fact that Kasabian would go on to perfect perfection even more in the years to come. 9/10
