I finally own the MP3 version. It was torture, seeing the CD in the shops today. But as much as I love that band, I won't buy that album 3 times! (Not unless there's a nice de luxe version later?) Still, the pink looks nice. As for the music, I guess I still need a few - much! - more rounds to get the finer details, but I already like it a lot. It's still quite guitar-y, not exactly the WTF?!-album ("electrocuted", "putting the guitars to the sword") they promised, but I think it's a nice compromise.

About the lack of guitars - they always say it. Usually when they're asked what the upcoming album sounds like about a year before they start writing it. There's always some form of "You never know, there might not be any guitars on it this time..." And then NME hallucinated no guitars on Bumblebeee obviously.

It's not that I have a problem with the guitar-y songs, I love that kind of music (and fell in love with the acoustic version of "Stevie", just watching Tim plucking his guitar). But also their more electronic, weird stuff. You sometimes forget that they are quite good with those as well, listening to the b-sides. Cynically thought, they are at the brink of becoming really big, at least in the UK, so maybe it's not the right time to make a totally out there album. I'm not complaining, if it sounds like that! I'm really happy with the album. It was just an observation.

Also, which track do you consider the most guitar based in this album? my answer is Doomsday.

I'd say Clouds too?

Clouds too. To be fair on the NME, since they heard a demo of Eez-Eh it's entirely possible of course that Bumblebeee was one too. Probably also featured the infamous buzzing sound more prominently.

S.P.S. has a lot of acoustic guitar. But i guess Doomsday is the most "guitar-ry" song on the album.
To me one of the strongest attractions in Kasabian is that they are not limited to one type of music/sound. Sergio has mastered different instruments, as well as guitars as syntesizers. That allows him to find the best format for his songs. I think this is a base for a creative freedom. Because sometimes you feel a band is limited by their instruments. Like if it is a guitar song that could use some electro in it. Or a pop song that misses heavy guitars. Or something like that.
In this terms Sergio can do whatever he wants. If a song fits better in guitars - here you are - you get an (acoustic) guitar song. More of a disco feel, then you get Eez-eh.
This is also the reason why all Kasabian albums are so variative.

10/10 for me. Heard it ten times now. I can't remember the last time I loved an album as much. None of the songs are skipable imo. This is better than I thought it would be. I'm in love!

Possibly the best album of the last 10 years. May want to let the new album shine wear off a bit there, before getting all hyperbolic.
