What do you expect from the next album? What do you hope they'll do with it? More of a certain musical style? Is there anything you're worried about, for example that they might go into a direction you don't like as much anymore?

I know that I'm going to love whatever it is, but would love a sophisticated concept album like West Ryder with some heavy electronic stuff. I'm clinging to what Tom said about it sounding like a dirty Prodigy remix (although Tom was saying Pink Floyd and Nirvana about Velociraptor so I don't know) Also would love a double LP, with lots of unreleased demos and remixes; singles with lots b-sides; some colourful artwork for a change and all of it on vinyl. Oh and some instrumentals too. Brown acid part 2 please.

Brown acid part 2 please. Hnnng. One thing I'm actually worried about is that they care less and less about b-sides. Last time we got two on four singles, the rest was leftover live tracks from 2009 and other things we had anyway. Remixes are alright, although I'm not a huge fan, and if I can have things like Narcotic Farm instead then I want that please. I don't doubt that they were inspired by Pink Floyd and Nirvana when they made Velociraptor, it's just that people, and especially the press, immediately interpret that as "It will definitely sound exactly like Pink Floyd" when in reality the Nirvana song ended up being Re-Wired. Neon Noon is quite WYWH-esque, though.

I really don't know what to expect from album number 5, but I can't wait to find out what they give us. I definitely want to hear more of their distinct brand of psychedelic rock but at the same time I'd love to hear this darker electronic music that Tom mentioned. I'm not really worried about them going in a different direction, we've got to sort of expect that. In my opinion, no band should sound exactly the same as their last album. This is one thing I love about Kasabian, each of their albums has been different. I agree with cuttoff about singles with b-sides, interesting artwork and vinyls. For those who purchased the Velociraptor! super deluxe box set, did you do the survey MyPlay Direct sent out? This makes me think that it's likely we'll get another super deluxe box set, but I guess it depends on if the feedback they received was positive. OH!! And I'm sick of seeing all the tour videos and behind the scenes stuff in black and white. Yeah, the black and white is "arty" and it fit with the Velociraptor! theme but next time can we please get some colour videos!

I'm sure 100% of the feedback they got was it's too fucking expensive. Which it was, but I feel I'm not in a position to complain because of course I bought it the second it went on sale like a brainwashed puppy. And I agree about the black and white. It's one of the reasons why I'm not a huge fan of Aitor, because it feels like he practically put them in uniform starting from the arena tour 2011. These days I rejoice when I see them wear a dark blue t-shirt instead of black all the time. And I know for a fact that he did change at least one thing without consulting the band first, which is stupid, they're not a boyband. I kind of hope they won't work with him anymore for the next album, and if they do, that he won't have as much control. It was cool for the Switchblade video and for the arena tour, with all the visuals and everything, but now it's time to move on. Flowery pink shirts please.

I agree the super deluxe was very expensive, but I wanted it and needed it (yes NEEDED, but I think you all understand that haha) so saved up for a few weeks. Kinda pissed me off that it ended up being sold for less than half the original price, but oh well. Also, UGH YES!! I'm so glad someone else feels the same way about Aitor. You're right, it's almost as if he had them in uniform, a bit too over-styled. I do like Aitor's whole aesthetic, but it just got a bit too samey-samey.
Anyways, what's everyone's thoughts on Dan the Automator? Do you think he'll produce the next album?

This is really a hard question to answer. I have 59769679875697 feelings about the new album. I trust them, I know it will be great. As for Aitor, I love everything he did in the Velociraptor! era, but that era is over and now it's time to go forward. But I think he will be their creative director again, but this is only my opinion. I don't know what to think about Dan. Do you think the album will be out in March-April as Chris said? We should have the first single by the end of January right?

My problem is that he's not really that diverse and Kasabian very much are. If you look at any of his previous drawings, they look 100% identical to the ones in the album sleeve. It's not original. So my hope is that if they have him design the next sleeve as well he'll hand in something that looks exactly like the last one and they'll be like okay nevermind. And they HAVE to stop wearing these shapeless black bin bags. I assume they'll go with Dan again because they've got Tim now, who has always worked closely with Dan, so it would probably be weird if they stole his guy and then ditched him. Speaking of which, I'm praying Tim stays. He fits in perfectly and I can't go through this again. As for the release date, I'm really not sure. March seems quite soon. And even if they are planning on releasing it in March/April, it's still possible that something happens beyond their control. Last time they finished the album in March 2011 and it didn't come out until September. Labels like summer records, I hope when it's done it won't be held back for too long.

For me he has given them all he had to give, because it's all he has to give in general! I'm worried... You're probably right about Dan, but a change will be necessary sooner or later, maybe for the sixth album. By the way, I like Tim very much, he's amazing. You can hear clearly that Kasabian have a new guitarist. I don't think the album will be out in March-April. I was speaking on the phone with a friend of mine yesterday "It will be out at the end of summer [2014], like Velociraptor!, you'll see". Again this is only a sensation. I can't wait so long!

I have no idea what to expect. Untill now they have never repeated themselves. But if they do something in the direction of "West Ryder..." I would be delighted.

I'd like Kasabian to stay away from the rule book. I don't want them to think they know what the Kasabian sound is and end up becoming caricatures of themselves, like so many bands end up doing. Especially at this point in their career.
I hope Kasabian can continue to push the boundaries of expectation. That's one of the reasons I love this band so much.

I expect a heavy bad ass record! Would love some Prodigy style songs. An album full of vlads and switchblades would be awesome, with the odd chill out song.

Slightly off topic, but it always astonishes me how little understanding people have of how albums are made or how the music industry works. They're bored with the old albums, see that it's been a while since the last one and demand a new one right now. Nevermind the fact that the band has been touring practically non-stop for over two years. Then they go by some random throwaway comment from April, when Tom said they're probably done recording by October, and are like "Where's the fucking album then??" because you see, it's already six days overdue, how rude. They don't understand that albums are not ready for purchase the day after a band finishes the last recording session. There are other factors, a lot of the time beyond the band's control. IIRC the label held West Ryder back for six months so they could have their summer hit single. There are so many things that are decided by other people that the band might not even be aware of. I just know that if the album isn't coming out in March/April at least one person will throw a tantrum because "Chris promised!!!" They also don't realise that it's highly unlikely that they decided on a title two years in advance, which is why the whole "Trial by Stone" thing shouldn't be taken too seriously.
I know that not everyone is a hardcore super fan who knows about every step of production and whatnot, but it just seems to me like all people do these days is demand. Where's our product. How dare they take a week off and not cater to my every whim.

I want a hidden track. Something very exciting and something which we'll only discover when we play the album and nobody would find out beforehand.
